Oregon officials set up the state’s first-ever mobile morgue to hold unidentified victims of the wildfires burning across the American West as President Trump traveled to California to meet with officials and Democratic nominee Joe Biden attacked the president for his inaction on climate change.

The day marked a significant shift in the attention to climate change within the presidential campaign. During a meeting with California officials, Trump blamed the wildfires on poor forest management and claimed, “It will start getting cooler, just you watch.”

According to experts, global temperatures will not suddenly start getting cooler. Speaking in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden condemned Trump’s record on climate and warned Trump’s reelection would lead to more disasters. “If you give a climate arsonist four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised if we have more of America ablaze?” Biden asked.
