Climate change took center stage in a lengthy exchange at the Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas on Wednesday evening, racking up more than 15 minutes of airtime and surpassing the amount of time given to the topic in previous debates.

Wednesday’s debate was the first presidential debate moderated by a climate journalist—Emmy-award-winning Telemundo climate correspondent Vanessa Hauc was one of the five moderators.

Moderator Jon Ralston, founder of the Nevada Independent, pushed candidates on how they’d “keep Las Vegas and Reno livable” as the climate changes.

Polling has shown that Latinx voters in Nevada, which will have its caucus Saturday, are particularly concerned about climate change.
