JetBlue is aiming to become the first US airline to go carbon neutral this year, the company said Monday.
The airline said it would offset all domestic flights by July 2020 by investing in projects including forest conservation and renewable energy.
Flights out of San Francisco will use a lower-emissions biofuel. In addition, the airline said it is also exploring other options to cut emissions, like improving flight paths and investing in new technologies.
The company began its carbon offset program in 2008, and the new announcement is an expansion of that work.
