The bulletproof glass screens couldn’t protect Donald Trump from New Yorkers chanting “lock him up” as he delivered a speech commemorating Veterans Day in New York today.
“Traitor, criminal, lock him up!”, “Sexist in chief”, and “Impeach Trump” signs greeted Trump at Madison Square Park in downtown Manhattan ahead of his speech. As Maggie Haberman, White House correspondent for NYTimes, and analyst for CNN noted: “This is all a reminder of why it would have been virtually impossible for Trump to return to NY to live after the White House.”

The Independent reminded in their coverage that “The chants are an echo of those at Trump’s own rallies—’Lock her up’— Trump and his supporters have called for 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to go to jail for the use of a private email server while she was serving as Secretary of State. The State Department found last month that there was no deliberate mishandling of classified information by Mrs. Clinton or her team, but Mr. Trump was able to weaponise the story during his campaign and after to rally his supporters.”

As one of the tweets stated: “This ain’t Alabama Donnie bot”. Neither NYC nor Twitter are safe spaces for the current Commander-In-Chief who carries a well-deserved rank of “Cadet Bonespurs” on social media.
