New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) signed a bill Tuesday that bans oil and gas drilling off the state’s 18-mile coast.

The Democrat-sponsored bill, which passed both houses of the Legislature earlier this year, also bans development of onshore oil and gas support facilities.

Maine, New York, New Jersey, and Oregon have also all passed or extended offshore drilling bans since 2018.

The bill “makes clear that despite attempts and interests by the Trump administration, New Hampshire…will not permit oil and gas drilling off our shores,” state Sen. Martha Fuller Clark (D), a cosponsor of the bill, said at the signing.
