Trump threatens to punish Fox News if they don’t fabricate better poll numbers for him

Astonishing poll shows Trump won't get more than 39% against the main Dem candidates

Trump is very angry at Fox News for accurately polling the presidential race.

So he actually went on TV  and threatened to punish them if they didn’t start coming up with a better poll numbers for him.

What’s the threat? He might not let Fox News have one of the big presidential debates in 2020. After all, he says, “I’m the one that calls the shots on that”:

“I think they’re making a big mistake because Fox was treated very badly by the Democrats. Very, very badly. Having to do with the debates and other things. And I think Fox is making a big mistake because, you know, I’m the one that calls the shots on that—on the really big debates. I guess we’re probably planning on three of them. And I – well, I’m very – I’m not happy with Fox.”

In the alternative reality that Trump lives in, he is winning in every poll — even though he is clearly losing in every poll.

So in Trump’s alt reality, a poll where he is not winning must be wrong — and generally in his mind it must be intentionally wrong, fabricated to make him look weak or unpopular.

That’s why he says in the video, “There’s something going on at Fox, I’ll tell you right now.  And I’m not happy with it.” And it’s why he says, “I think Fox is making a big mistake.”

In Trump’s reality, since Fox is intentionally putting out bad poll numbers, they could be putting out good poll numbers if they wanted to.

All they need is a little incentive, a little financial motivation, to flip the numbers.

And one of the easiest ways to hurt Fox would be to deny them one of the big fall 2020 presidential debates. Hence the threat.

Trump’s words do not make much sense in the real world — Fox uses professional pollsters like most other media outlets. But, tragically, it makes perfect sense in the president’s alt reality.
