Space-tourism Virgin Galactic, which has been more theory than practice, is now showing off its newly redesigned spaceport in New Mexico. It includes a café and “mission control,” which looks like a conference room.
The company has been testing carrier craft and rocket planes for a few years and relocated to New Mexico to support engineers, spacefaring vehicles, and supply-chain staff, per CEO George Whitesides.
“Together we will open space to change the world for good,” says Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson.
TechCrunch predicts a first flight from Virgin Galactic before the end of the year.
