Instead of burying their heads in the sand, the young activists of Climatepedia have found a new way to deal with their extreme eco-anxiety: create memes.
Thousands of memes on Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter now sum up the “internal screaming of a generation faced with destruction,” says Metro.
But for climate_memes it’s not just screaming. Memes are a catchy, formulaic image that’s designed to go viral. The result? It can rally a huge young population who will passionately educate others and work tirelessly to change public policy.
“Combining information with humor allows the content to be more attention grabbing and increases the chances of going viral,” says associate director Gianna.
