Walmart bans violent video games displays (for now) but not guns

Walmart just confirmed Thursday that the company has decided to remove signs and displays of violent video games.

However, it’s still selling guns.Individual stores received an “immediate action” memo that only told them to remove any games that “contain violent themes or aggressive behavior,” based on their own discretion.

Though gun control advocates have been pushing the retailer to stop selling guns after the recent mass shootings in El Paso and Southaven, there’s been no change in Walmart’s policy on selling guns.

Walmart CEO Doug McMillon has only said the company will be “thoughtful and deliberate” in its responses.
