Disney made $54.7 billion sales in licensed merchandise in 2018 — even without their newly acquired 21st Century Fox product sales.

The strongest performers within the Walt Disney Co. kingdom were Marvel (“Black Panther,” “Avengers: Infinity War”), Pixar (“Coco”), and Lucasfilm (the Star Wars franchise).

2018 was the year of “entertainment industry consolidation,” greatly affecting Hollywood brand licensing, per The Hollywood reporter.

AT&T nabbed Time Warner. Disney grabbed 21st Century Fox. And Viacom and CBS considered combining.

First-time licensors to make License Global’s rankings include Buzzfeed, with $135 million in merchandise, and Crunchyroll, with $100 million.
